I will be closing my office in Ventura September 1 we will be moving to Newport Beach I would like to continue with some of my patients.   I would like to do telehealth is anybody doing telehealth and what software do I have to install two get encrypted that is HIPAA compliant?

I am a Counseling Psychology doctoral student at Walden University and am currently in the dissertation phase of my degree program. I am looking for participants to take part in a research study looking at the impact of service dogs on combat veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) related symptoms.

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact, if any, of the use of service dogs on PTSD-related symptoms in noncombat and combat veterans diagnosed with PTSD. These dogs are also referred to as PTSD Dogs or Mental Health Assistance Dogs. In this study, PTSD Dogs and Mental Health Assistance Dogs will also be referred to as Psychiatric Service Dogs (PSD). This study is also looking at attachment styles of combat and non-combat veterans.

Completion of the surveys should take approximately 10-20 minutes.  Participants will be anonymous and will not be contacted in the future.  As a disabled veteran myself I understand the importance of privacy. This study does not collect any privacy information and the host website does not even collect IP addresses of the computers used to participate in the study.

This presentation is designed for educating practicing professionals about the impact of secondary traumatic stress on professional development as well as the ethical issues that may result.  The learning objectives for this presentation are:

1.      Become aware of the ethical issues concerning the personal and systematic impact of secondary traumatic stress (STS)

2.      Identify minimum of three personal and career development factors that may impact the experience of STS for psychologists

3.      Identify three to five different coping/self-care strategies to address STS in professional roles

This program is free and open to the community.  Psychologists attending are eligible for 2 hours of continuing education.

Dr. Park is a postdoctoral fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles specializing in trauma psychology through the University of Southern California’s University Center Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.  

California Lutheran University is approved by the California Psychological Association to provide continuing professional education for psychologists.  California Lutheran University maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  This program will provide attendees with 2 CE units for full attendance; no partial credit will be awarded.
